Chambers Selected as Atlantic 10 Rookie & Defensive Player of the Week!

Men's Defence - Corey Chambers, George Mason University (Goalkeeper)

George Mason freshman Corey Chambers was named as both the A-10 Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week. The awards, announced Monday, were for games played the opening weekend of competition.

SSU's Chambers, won the first two starts of his collegiate career, helping George Mason get off to a 2-0 start. The Wexford, Ireland, native made eight saves over the weekend - a 2-1 victory over No. 19 Coastal Carolina on Friday and a 3-0 victory over American on Sunday. Against Coastal Carolina, he made four saves against 20 shots from Coastal Carolina. He also tallied an assist on the game winner over the Chanticleers on a nice midfield pass to teammate Henning Dirks. Chambers then picked up his first career shutout on Sunday with another four saves against American. He made a couple acrobatic stops at the end of the first half as American fired off 13 shots before halftime.
