Curtin Commits to the Lakers!

Darragh Curtin, of Dublin, Ireland, committed to the Mercyhurst University Lakers soccer team this week, by signing his National Letter of Intent. The Lakers from Erie, Pennsylvania are part of the NCAA, and play out of the PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference).

Mercyhurst went 10-6-2 in 2019, falling 2-1 in the PSAC tournament semi-finals. The Lakers have got business done early, with most of their 2021 roster complete, with Curtin being one of the final pieces of the jigsaw. “[with the addition of Darragh] we are now more or less set, we’re bringing in a very strong 2021 class, and I think Darragh will do very well here with us”, stated Head Coach, Ryan Osbourne.

Darragh currently plays for Drogheda United U19s in the League of Ireland, and can operate in a number of positions. LW/CAM/CM are just some of the roles that Curtin masters, making him a very attractable option to college coaches in the USA. After conversations with many colleges, Curtin made his decision to take his talents to Erie, PA. “I’m really happy, it’s brilliant [to have it sorted], and I’m really excited to get started”, commented the young Irish midfielder.

Notable Alumni from Mercyhurst University include; Meghan Agosta (Three-time Olympic Gold Medalist), Matthew Hatchette (NFL Wide Receiver for Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguara & the New York Jets), and Daniel Altavilla (MLB Pitcher). 🇺🇸

Everyone at SSUSA is delighted for Darragh, and can’t wait to follow his College soccer career at Mercyhurst. The future is bright for Curtin, and we can’t wait to see him in action in the Fall.
