Another fantastic Scholarship Sports USA success story as Andrew “Andy” Brennan from Dublin, Ireland continues his journey in the United States, transitioning into the coaching pathway as a Graduate Assistant with SIUE men’s soccer.
Andy represents a great example of how the U.S. college system can open doors beyond playing, creating opportunities in coaching, performance, and sport science.
In 2024, Andy began his first season on staff at SIUE, where he contributes to the men’s soccer program across multiple areas including:
⚽ Training sessions and practice planning
📊 Match preparation, analysis and scouting
✈️ Team logistics and travel organisation
Prior to this role, Andy gained valuable coaching experience as an assistant coach at Truman State University during the Spring 2023 season, supporting the day-to-day running of the program.
Alongside his coaching, Andy has built a strong background in performance and fitness, working as a certified personal trainer at The Exercise Coach and holding qualifications as a certified youth soccer coach. He has also contributed to player development back home in Ireland with Path2Pro Soccer Academy in Ballymun.
Academically, Andy has fully embraced the student-athlete pathway:
