Lamar University, located in Beaumont, Texas, is a public, student-focused institution and part of the Texas State University System. Founded in 1923, it serves over 17,000 students, offering over 100 programs of study with strong emphasis on STEM, nursing, and education. It is designated as a Carnegie Doctoral Research University and features an NCAA Division I-FCS athletic program. Academic and Student Life: Programs: Offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees with a focus on undergraduate research and hands-on learning, including specialized programs in Deaf Studies and engineering. Campus: Situated on a 270-acre campus, roughly 90 miles east of Houston. Admissions: The university is lightly selective with an acceptance rate of approximately 86%. We’re proud to highlight another Scholarship Sports USA success story, as Eloise Bywater from Manchester, England continues her journey in the United States.

A commanding 5’10” goalkeeper, Eloise has already made a strong impact at the collegiate level in her freshman season, appearing in 17 matches with 16 starts and playing over 1,300 minutes between the posts.

Her standout debut season included:

🧤 57 total saves
🧤 2 clean sheets (vs. UC Davis & Southeastern Louisiana)
🧤 1.54 goals-against average
🧤 6–6–4 record in goal

Before moving to the United States, Eloise built valuable experience in England, competing with Doncaster Rovers Belles in the FA Women’s National League Division One North, where she made 10 starts. She also gained experience being a scholar at Manchester City FC and picked up loan experience for Halifax FC.

Her transition to the U.S. game has been seamless, and her performances in goal show the composure, shot-stopping ability and leadership that make her such an exciting goalkeeper to watch.
